Women’s World Cup 2025- Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium Replaces Bengaluru as Host
The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has stepped in as a key venue for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, replacing the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The ICC confirmed the change on Friday (August 22), after the Karnataka State Association failed to get permission from the state government to host fixtures.
Bengaluru had long been under uncertainty as a host city, with doubts surfacing earlier this month following the tragic stampede during RCB’s IPL title celebrations. With the clearance not granted, the ICC officially shifted Bengaluru’s share of games to Navi Mumbai.
DY Patil Stadium Takes Centre Stage
The DY Patil Stadium will host five matches in total – three league fixtures, one semi-final, and potentially the final. However, if Pakistan qualifies for the final, the summit clash will instead be staged at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
Alongside Navi Mumbai, the other confirmed venues for the Women’s World Cup 2025 are-
- ACA Stadium, Guwahati
- ACA-VDCA Stadium, Vizag
- Holkar Stadium, Indore
- R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
Major Schedule Changes
The announcement also brought shuffles to the tournament schedule-
- The opening game between India and Sri Lanka on September 30, originally in Bengaluru, will now be held at ACA Stadium, Guwahati.
- The England vs South Africa match on October 3 has also been moved to Guwahati.
- Two fixtures have been reassigned to Navi Mumbai- Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh (Oct 20) and India vs New Zealand (Oct 23).
- New Zealand vs Bangladesh (Oct 10) shifts to Guwahati from Vizag.
- Vizag will now host the England vs New Zealand game on October 26.
The Women’s World Cup 2025 runs from September 30 to November 2. The league stage will determine the top four teams, who move to the semifinals – with first place facing fourth, and second playing third.
