Usman Khawaja Ruled out of the Second Ashes Test
The Ashes series is currently the buzz in the world of Test cricket and it is a great experience for cricket fans as Australia has performed brilliantly and won the first match in just two days. Both teams are now gearing up for the second match of the series, which will be a day-night match and will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane on December 4.
While Australia have made a great start to the series with a win, they have some bad news ahead of the second match. Their top-order batsman, Usman Khawaja, has been ruled out due to injury ahead of the Gabba Test. Usman Khawaja has been ruled out due to a back injury he suffered during the first test match at Perth. He scored only two runs in the first innings and did not come to bat in the second innings.
Khawaja took part in a brief net session on Tuesday and looked uncomfortable, suggesting he is not fully recovered and ready to play again. Although Australia has not announced any other replacement for the Khawaja yet.
However, it will be interesting to see who opens the batting for Australia. While Marnus Labuschagne opened the innings in the first innings of the Perth Test, Travis Head did the same in the second innings, scoring a brilliant century to help his team to victory. Therefore, it is likely that Head will open the innings in the Gabba Test.
