South Africa’s T20 World Cup Concerns Deepen as David Miller Suffers Groin Injury

David Miller

South Africa’s T20 World Cup preparations have been dealt another significant blow with senior batter David Miller sustaining a suspected groin injury during the ongoing SA20 tournament. The left-hander left the field while fielding for the Paarl Royals against Joburg Super Kings on Monday and did not bat in the chase.

The extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed, but the setback places Miller in a race against time to regain fitness for the World Cup, which begins next month. Miller himself remained uncertain after the match, stating, “I don’t know, we’ll see tomorrow… Obviously not ideal.”

Miller becomes the third member of South Africa’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad to suffer an injury in the lead-up to the tournament. All-rounder Donovan Ferreira has already been ruled out of the SA20 with a fractured shoulder, while batter Tony de Zorzi is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in December.

With the tournament fast approaching, South Africa’s management will be anxiously monitoring Miller’s recovery as they look to finalize their plans for the marquee event.
