New Zealand Announces T20I & ODI Squads for India Tour 2026
The New Zealand Cricket Board has announced its ODI and T20I squads for the India tour next month. The tour will begin on January 11 with a three-match ODI series, followed by a five-match T20I series starting January 21. Michael Bracewell will captain the 15-member New Zealand squad in the three-match ODI series. While Mitchell Santner will captain in the T20 series. Keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, this will be the last chance for both the teams to test their preparations for the upcoming big ICC tournament.
However, the most important thing in this announcement was that Kane Williamson has been rested and he will not play in the ODI series. While in-form players Jacob Duffy, Rachin Ravindra, Will O’Rourke and Blair Tickner, who did well in the recent series against West Indies, also missed out the ODI series India. In their place, many young players will be seen playing who have recently proved themselves by performing well in domestic cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the Indian team for the five-match series against New Zealand on December 20. The same team will also play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian ODI squad is expected to be announced by the first week of January 2026. India Superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be expected to feature in the three-match ODI series.
