Nepal Bolster Coaching Setup, Appoint Ian Harvey as Bowling Consultant for T20 World Cup

Nepal have strengthened their backroom staff ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup with the appointment of former Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey as their bowling consultant. Harvey, 53, will work under fellow Australian Stuart Law, the team’s head coach.

Harvey brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach. As a cricketer, he was known for his clever variations including pinpoint yorkers and an array of slower balls and his ability to score quick runs down the order. He played 73 ODIs for Australia and was part of their triumphant 2003 World Cup-winning squad. In T20 cricket, he was a trailblazer, scoring the first-ever century in England’s Twenty20 Cup in 2003 and later being named Player of the Tournament in the inaugural edition of the Indian Cricket League (ICL).

Since retiring, Harvey has built a solid coaching career, most notably serving as assistant coach at Gloucestershire since 2015, a county he also represented as an overseas professional during his playing days.

Nepal, who impressed with their spirited performances in the 2024 T20 World Cup despite not winning a match, will hope Harvey’s expertise can sharpen their bowling attack in the upcoming global event. They are placed in a challenging group and will begin their campaign against England on February 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where they are scheduled to play all their group-stage fixtures.
