Jemimah led India to the final of the Women’s World Cup 2025
The Indian women’s team has achieved a feat never before achieved in World Cup history. They chased down the highest successful run chase in World Cup history against Australia in the semi-final 2. After a brilliant partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, team India won the match by 5 wickets with nine balls remaining.
India not only completed the highest successful run chase in a World Cup knockout match, but also ended Australia’s streak of 15 consecutive victories in the Women’s ODI World Cup. Jemimah was moved to tears after the victory. Navi Mumbai has been Jemimah’s home ground, and today she played a historic innings here.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat against India in the semi-final 2. Australia fielded one change, while India made three. Shafali, who replaced the injured Pratika, is part of the playing eleven.

Then, Australia scored 338 runs, thanks to a century from Phoebe Litchfield. Litchfield scored 119 runs off 93 balls. She shared a 155-run partnership for the second wicket with Ellyse Perry. Ellyse Perry was dismissed for 77. The Indian bowlers then made a strong comeback. However, Ashleigh Gardner held one end and scored 67 runs, taking Australia past the 300 mark. For India, Deepti and Shree Charani took two wickets each, while Amanjot, Kranti, and Radha Yadav each took one wicket.
Chasing Australia’s target of 339 runs, India had a poor start. India lost Shafali at 13 and then Mandhana at 59. Jemimah and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then laid the foundation for India’s victory with a 167-run partnership for the third wicket. Captain Harmanpreet was dismissed for 89. Jemimah then forged partnerships with Deepti and then Richa to take the match to the final. Jemimah Rodrigues scored a brilliant unbeaten 127 off 134 balls.
Now, India will face South Africa in the title match on November 2nd at the same venue.
