Beardman & Edwards Earn Australia Call-Ups for Pakistan T20Is
Australia have named a revamped 17-man squad for their upcoming three-match T20I tour of Pakistan, with uncapped fast bowler Mahli Beardman and all-rounder Jack Edwards earning their maiden call-ups.
The squad features only 10 members from Australia’s recently announced T20 World Cup group, as several key players including Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Ellis, and Tim David are being rested or managed ahead of the global event.

The 20-year-old Beardman has impressed with eight wickets for the Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), while Edwards has claimed 15 scalps for the Sydney Sixers. Both have previously trained with the national setup.
Chair of Selectors George Bailey highlighted the series as an opportunity for emerging talent, stating, “The series is a great opportunity for those on the brink of selection and some young players we rate highly for valuable experience with the World Cup group in Pakistan.”
Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the side, which includes several other players on the fringes such as Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, and Matt Renshaw.
The T20Is will be played in Lahore on January 29, 31, and February 1, with players involved in the BBL finals joining the squad afterward. Australia begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on February 11.
