BCCI announced India’s squad for the South Africa Test series: Rishabh Pant returns as vice-captain – Full list of players selected
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa on Wednesday.
Shubman Gill is maintaining his leadership position after a strong start to his captaincy tenure, winning four of his first seven matches. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul will once again form India’s opening pair.
In a big boost for Indian cricket fans, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has returned to the Test squad after missing the West Indies series due to a leg fracture sustained during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Pant returned to the field last week, captaining the India A team in the first unofficial Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru. He scored a match-deciding 90 runs off 113 balls in the second innings to guide his team to a three-wicket victory.
Apart from him, fast bowler Akash Deep has also returned to the team, who was out of two Test matches against the Caribbean team due to injury. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, who impressed Bengal in the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy, is not included in the squad again. Moreover, Prasidh Krishna, Sarfaraz Khan and Karun Nair, who are performing brilliantly in recent domestic cricket, also failed to make it to the 15-member squad.BCCI has announced Team India’s squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
