Flying is one of the most exciting abilities in Where Winds Meet, but many players miss it because the game does not explain the steps clearly. You cannot just jump and glide right away—you must unlock special Lightness Mystic Skills and earn enough exploration points in each region.
This guide explains exactly how to unlock flying, which skills give you flight, and how the flying system works.
How Flying Works in Where Winds Meet?
Lightness Mystic Skills are the ones that make flying possible, and through them, you can already go up to the sky, slide for a long distance, and get to high places that are usually not allowed to climb. The manner of execution for all the flying abilities is the same. The minor variations are in the animation and the visual representation.
To fly, you must:
- Unlock at least one Lightness Mystic Skill.
- Earn enough Exploration Points in the region you want to fly in.
- Obtain that region’s flight item (like the Afterglow Pendant).
You must repeat step 2 and 3 for every new region you explore.
How to Unlock Flying in Where Winds Meet?
1. Unlock a Lightness Mystic Skill
To take off into the air, you must possess at least one Lightness Mystic Skill. You have the option to take any of the four because they all grant you the ability to glide and fly.
These four skills are:
- Meteor Flight
- Thousand-Mile Flight
- Fan Glider
- Wind Rider
You only need one to start flying.
2. Earn Exploration Points in the Region
Even if you have the skill, you cannot fly until you earn enough exploration points in that specific area.
- Qinghe: 4,000 Exploration
- Kaifeng: 4,000 Exploration
Exploration points are earned by:
- Completing side
- Finishing
- Discovering Boundary
- Finding
- Exploring new
Once you reach the required points, the flight item for that region becomes available.
3. Collect the Region’s Flight Item
Each region gives you one item that lets you use Lightness Mystic Skills in that area.
Examples:
- Qinghe: Afterglow
- Kaifeng: Flight
Without the item, your flight skill will not activate.
How Flying Works in Where Winds Meet?
1. You Can Cover Huge Distances
Flying allows you to rise quickly and glide across long stretches of land. It is much faster than running or using a horse.
2. Your Air Movement Uses Endurance
While you fly, your endurance bar goes down. If it empties, you fall, so plan your route before jumping off high ground.
3. Skills Are Similar, but Animations Are Different
Meteor Flight, Thousand-Mile Flight, Fan Glider, and Wind Rider all work the same in function. The only changes are in their motions, effects, and style.
4. Flying Is Region-Restricted
You unlock flying separately in each region.
Having a flight skill is not enough—you must earn that region’s exploration reward to use it there.
If you want to unlock flying early, focus on exploring as much as possible. Start by completing every side quest you come across because these quests give you a large amount of exploration points. Make sure you activate every Boundary Stone, as each one reveals more of the map and increases your progress. Keep interacting with unusual objects and NPCs.
