The Indian women’s team has achieved a feat never before achieved in World Cup history. They chased down the highest successful run chase in World Cup history against Australia in the semi-final 2. After a brilliant partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, team India won the match by 5 wickets with nine balls remaining.

India not only completed the highest successful run chase in a World Cup knockout match, but also ended Australia’s streak of 15 consecutive victories in the Women’s ODI World Cup. Jemimah was moved to tears after the victory. Navi Mumbai has been Jemimah’s home ground, and today she played a historic innings here.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat against India in the semi-final 2. Australia fielded one change, while India made three. Shafali, who replaced the injured Pratika, is part of the playing eleven.

For India, Deepti and Shree Charani took two wickets each, while Amanjot, Kranti, and Radha Yadav each took one wicket.

Chasing Australia’s target of 339 runs, India had a poor start. India lost Shafali at 13 and then Mandhana at 59. Jemimah and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then laid the foundation for India’s victory with a 167-run partnership for the third wicket. Captain Harmanpreet was dismissed for 89.
