Anno 117 Pax Romana

In Anno 117: Pax Romana, you step into the shoes of a governor of the Roman Empire, managing, building, and making decisions for your people and your province during the year 117 AD. You may build your economy, command your armies, or assimilate the Roman Empire and local cultures. All your choices impact the empire.

Here’s everything you should know about the gameplay!

Anno 117: Pax Romana Factions And Gameplay

Albion is full of misty marshes, cliffs, and forests. You will use these lands to gather resources like eels and reeds. But marshes are tricky; you can’t build everything there, and roads must be carefully placed.

Albion is home to the Waders, Celtic people learning to live under Roman rule. You start by meeting their basic needs: food, clothing, and public services.

Once you meet these needs, you can upgrade them into:

  • Smiths
  • Mercators

Over time, Smiths will have the opportunity to transform into Aldermen, the Celtic culture leaders, and Mercators will ascend to the status of Nobles, fully Romanized citizens. You have the option of placing both types of settlements on the same island, so there is a lot of flexibility for your empire.

You will come across notable personalities in Albion:

  • Voada: A Celtic warrior who is in opposition to Romanization. If you uphold the local culture, she might lend you her assistance.
  • Manx: A trader who is neutral, yet culturally concerned. He provides quests and trade assistance and is an option for commerce.
  • Athr Iorgwyn: A rival builder who is power and land hungry. He is indifferent to Celtic and Roman culture but is a competitive spacer.

Your actions determine the interactions you have with these characters along with your empire.

Religion in Anno 117: Pax Romana

Temples can be constructed and deities selected for veneration. The deities provide unique benefits such as food production, trade rate, and citizen health. The festivals associated with these deities can provide city disaster protection.

You can obtain new technologies and upgrades through the Discovery Tree. In Albion, Celtic gods can be obtained and the technology Marsh Drainage can be used to convert marshes into usable land, increasing residential and productive space.

You can choose to fight or stay peaceful. Albion introduces unique units:

  • Axebearers – Strong infantry with axes, good against Roman soldiers, weak if surrounded.
  • Chariots – Fast units for quick attacks, but weak in close combat.

You can move units between islands, plan attacks, and defend your empire strategically.
